Inspiration for the Puzon Wilderness Bowie
By Dave Puzon, Owner and Founder of Positive Made LeatherCraftThe inspiration for the Puzon Wilderness Bowie comes from many different places and stories. I wanted to create a knife that would feel at home on the belt of an Alamo defender, while also fitting the needs of modern outdoor adventurers. Its design draws influence from the bolo knives carried by Filipino soldiers during World War II, as well as the larger-than-life characters and frontiersmen who inspired me growing up—figures like Rambo, Daniel Boone, Kit Carson, and Jim Bowie.
My goal was to create a blade versatile enough for the tasks that matter in the outdoors: building shelter, preparing firewood, processing game, and handling the unexpected challenges that come with time in the wilderness. In many ways, it reflects the knives carried by the heroes of the stories I admired as a child—the dependable tool that helps you face adversity, solve problems, and find your way home.
The Puzon Wilderness Bowie is a tribute to that spirit of self-reliance, adventure, and preparedness, brought together in a knife designed to be as capable as it is enduring.
