Bridging the threshold between Axe and Knife, the Work Tuff Gear Hemlock Ares is designed with one purpose in mind, "Survive." 
 
Whether that be surviving for your life or the rigorous abuse camp and fieldwork can have. The Hemlock Ares is designed to shrug off punishment and return for more. At home in the most grueling environments or even under the seat of your truck, the Ares is ready for whatever challenges you may throw at it. 
 
From the ground up, the Hemlock Ares was designed to destroy the argument that you shouldn't baton with your knives. On the contrary, it was designed for that specific purpose. From the step up on the spine for added impact area to the steep Saber grind for displacement. You'll be hard-pressed to find a knife that will be as capable of batoning as the Ares. 
 
Blade geometry is kept extremely simple for ease of sharpening and to facilitate the deep bites only a chopper can deliver. The broad belly leads straight into the spine, creating a surprisingly efficient tip without sacrificing strength. We give you the maximum effective striking area while batoning without concern for tip breakage. 
 
With multiple grip options and the ability to choke up on the blade, you'll find that although it's pretty hefty, it's also very controllable for lighter-duty tasks. Whether preparing feather sticks or with some practice, you will be amazed at how much finesse you can achieve with a knife of this caliber. 
 
I designed the Ares with the thought in mind, "What if my knife was all I had to survive for an extended time?" would I be able to make a permanent shelter? Could I butcher and process large and small games? Can I fell a tree with it but still carve a feather stick? How do I accomplish all of these vast goals with just one tool? And subsequently, through trial and error, the Hemlock Ares was born. It's simple, effective, and overbuilt, with a purpose-driven design.
